Theo Walcott

Theo Walcott | Arsenal & England Wonderkid

Montreal Impact manager Thierry Henry is looking forward to the performances of Victor Wanyama, who made the switch from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month. The Kenya international had been linked with a potential exit from Spurs over the past couple of seasons and he has eventually sealed his departure with a move to Major League Soccer.

Former Premier League ace Neville Southall believes Theo Walcott does not look happy with his position at Everton. The England international made the switch to the Toffees from Arsenal in January 2018 and he has since struggled to live up to the expectations.

In the current season, he has netted just one goal from 21 league appearances and Southall feels the attacker may need a fresh challenge during the backend of his career.

Everton manager Marco Silva has said that he expects more from Mason Holgate despite the defender’s promising form over the past month. The 23-year-old managed just 17 minutes of Premier League action until October but he has become a regular ever since and has played through 90 minutes of the past three top-flight games.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Silva was pleased that Holgate has been able to take the opportunity with both hands to become a regular at the heart of the club’s backline.

Former Premier League ace Noel Whelan has said that Alex Iwobi is the most creative winger in the Everton ranks and he could prove a key performer for the Toffees following the international break. The Nigeria international joined the Merseyside outfit from Arsenal on transfer deadline day and he has since proved a quality purchase, having already contributed a couple of goals and an assist.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Whelan highlighted that Iwobi was the most effective player for the Toffees against Burnley, though the club ended in a defeat. He added that the former Gunners graduate has the pace and ability to create chances and he should start more regularly under manager Marco Silva, whose position has come under scrutiny of late.

Everton boss Marco Silva has said that he will remain patient with Alex Iwobi, who was the club’s deadline day signing from Arsenal this summer. The Nigeria international has yet to make his debut for the Toffees this season and he was an unused substitute during the club’s 1-0 win over Watford last weekend.

Speaking in a press conference, Silva said that the former Arsenal graduate is looking forward to making his debut for the Merseyside outfit. However, he added that the Nigeria international won’t be rushed into action, given he has just spent a couple of weeks in training following the late return after the African Cup of Nations.

Everton attacker Theo Walcott has heaped praise on teammate Idrissa Gueye during the club’s pre-season tour of Kenya. The Senegal international has been a crucial figure at the heart of the Toffees midfield in recent seasons and he has the wished the midfielder the best of luck ahead of the African Cup of Nations final against Algeria.

Speaking in a press conference, Walcott was asked about the influence of African players in the Premier League where he mentioned Gueye, who has an exceptional workrate from the centre of the park, he said: “Idrissa particularly, he doesn’t stop and he is one of the players that works so hard and he is for me one of the best around and to actually share a field with him he just shows that he’s got real top quality so I wish him all the best, hopefully he comes back fit.”

Everton vice-captain Seamus Coleman has said that the players are responding to the demands of manager Marco Silva as the season comes to a conclusion. The Merseyside giants suffered a string of average results at the beginning of February and there were suggestions that Silva should be axed from the helm.

However, the Portuguese tactician was handed with the complete backing from club owner Farhad Moshiri and he has since transformed the club’s fortunes with stunning wins over the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United at Goodison Park. Speaking to Everton TV, Coleman indicated that Silva was aware of the club’s dismal record against the Premier League’s elite and they have managed to redeem themselves with standout displays during the backend of the season.

Everton manager Marco Silva has urged the players to produce more consistent performances when they face the top six of the Premier League. The Merseyside outfit secured a terrific 2-0 triumph over Chelsea before the international break, and he is hopeful that the team can produce a similar showing when Arsenal make the trip to Merseyside this weekend.

Speaking in a press conference, Silva said: “We achieved that against Chelsea at home and we have more games against these type of sides and we have to do everything we can to win the match: with ambition, desire, belief in us while respecting them. We are performing better and it is recognition of the good work we are doing, not just for me as a manager but the players. In general I am happy with our performances over the last few weeks with the exception of the 30 minutes against Newcastle (squandering a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2).”

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has said that he is eager to beat Jordan Pickford to the number one role for England. Pickford has been the country’s first-choice goalkeeper after an impressive debut season with Everton last term but his performances have been questionable during the course of the current campaign.

Speaking to The Mail, Heaton heaped praise on the progress of Pickford over the past year where he has become the undisputed choice for the goalkeeping duties with England. However, the former Manchester United graduate is not willing to give up on the position and he is hopeful for the best ahead of the forthcoming internationals.

Everton forward Theo Walcott wants to help the team win games despite criticisms from the fans. Indeed the player was criticized by some fans following his performance in the game against Manchester City.
He said that it was not an easy match as Manchester City have some really good players and that he was not getting a good service up front. He said that he wants to give his best to the team and help them score as many goals as possible in order to win games.

He believes that the club is progressing under manager Silva but they still have to work harder if they want to win games against the top side. He said that there have been many new players at Everton this season and that it is natural that it will take some time before they play as a team.
