Theo Walcott is going through one of his best seasons as a player of Arsenal.
The English player has so far, scored Premier League 10 goals in 24 appearances which is actually the highest amount of goals that Walcott has scored with an Arsenal jersey in his entire playing career except for the season of 2012-13 which is when he managed to score 14 league goals.
The 28 year old English player has certainly been impressing at the Emirates Stadium with his consistently high level performances and Walcott was even named as the captain during Arsenal’s Premier League match against West Ham United which was played on April 5.
Arsene Wenger has been so dazzled by what Theo Walcott has accomplished in this season that the French manager stated that his player has what it takes to even become the captain of England.
“If you can captain a club team, you can captain the national team. He is quite a determined guy. He doesn’t compromise with what he thinks is important. He speaks his mind, especially in meetings I have with the players and at half-time in games, too. Theo is a guy who has a huge level of focus. He has played wide all season and played 20 games and scored ten goals in the Premier League. For a wide player that’s quite positive.” Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger said.
Even with the support and approval of Arsene Wenger, it appears like Theo Walcott might not be becoming the captain of England anytime soon as the 28 year old player was not even called up by England’s manager Gareth Southgate to perform for the recent matches of England as they had to play against Germany and Lithuania. Not everyone has the same kind of confidence in Theo Walcott as Arsene Wenger does.
