The German international Thomas Müller has said that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger should not take the German opposition Bayern Munich lightly in the two sides face each other in the last 16 stage of the Champions League.
Bayern Munich have already managed a convincing 3-1 win in the first leg, and they are the favourites to progress to the next round. Even though Wenger has stated that the task to overcome Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena is almost impossible, he is expected to rest a number of key players like Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott. Hence, there has been suggestions that Wenger is taking the game lightly.
Müller, who scored in the first match between the two teams, has said that Wenger will be making a big mistake by not taking them seriously. He has said that Bayern will not give Arsenal any mercy in the match. After opening 20 point advantage in the league, Bayern are expected to shift their focus to the Champions League. They have finished as the finalists in the competition on two times in the last three years. Müller has said that him and his teammates are desperate to finally lift the trophy after coming so close in recent years.
“I don’t have any worries we might take the match too lightly. We will step on the gas. Even if something goes wrong in the match, we should be able to pick ourselves up,” said the German international. "They could have won 4-0, they had the chances, so it shows they are a strong team and capable of making up the gap if they have to. I respect Arsène Wenger very much. He is a top manager and Arsenal are a fighting team,” said the Bayern Munich manager Heynckes ahead of the match.
