England international Theo Walcott has revived his ailing football career following his return to Southampton at the start of this season and Everton legend Tim Cahill believes that the £9m winger would be a success at the St. Mary's Stadium. Cahill praised the early impact of Walcott in his second Southampton spell while he was on BBC Match of the Day. According to him, Saints fans would be rubbing their hands at the prospects of Walcott linking up with Che Adams and Danny Ings in attack though Ingsis currently sidelined until next month due to a knee injury.
Walcott left Everton to return to the St. Mary's Stadium after losing his place in the starting XI since the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti last year. He started his professional career at Southampton at the tender age of 16. Some months later, Walcott signed for Arsenal for an initial fee of £5m. The Englishman spent 12 years with the Gunners before the Toffees paid £20m to sign him in January 2018.
Then England manager Sven Goran Eriksson stunned the footballing world by including a teenage Walcott in his squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament in Germany. The Southampton striker didn't play a single minute at the tournament. He had earlier made his debut for the Three Lions in a friendly game with Hungary at home. Walcott became the youngest England debutant at the age of 17 years and 75 days during the game which his team won 3-1 as part of preparations for the World Cup tournament in Germany.
