Arsenal star forward Theo Walcott was pictured enjoying the sun at a beach with his family.
The former Southampton man was with his wife Melanie and son Finley as he made the best of an extended holiday after being snubbed for the Three Lions international fixtures.
Gareth Southgate preferred to invite players that were playing regularly in the biggest possible games for their respective clubs. He missed out the last time and the boss felt he did not do enough to be invited this time again. England are set to play Scotland and France but the 28-year old would watch from his living room.
There are rumours that Walcott could exit the Gunners this summer. He has been linked with a move to Goodison Park. Walcott did not start any of Arsenal’s last seven games. He played just twice from the bench as pressured Arsene Wenger looked at other options.
Walcott seems focused on spending time with his family on holiday so he could resume for the pre-season recharged as Arsenal would take the spotlight. Wenger renewed his deal for two years but he would be scrutinized as his days at the Emirates near its end.
Walcott netted 19 times in 38 games for Arsenal. However he fell down in the pecking order at the club. The deal he signed in 2015 still stands; he earns £140,000 a week and gets to remain for two years. With the current happenings at Arsenal, it would not be surprising if Walcott is sold or loaned out. But Wenger rarely shows that part of him. So Walcott might remain for the forthcoming season with Wenger promising high heavens yet again.
