Tottenham Hotspur fans taunted Arsenal forward Theo Walcott in their 2-0 defeat over the Gunners at White Hart Lane in a Premier League fixture.
The fans called Walcott “a sh*t Aaron Lennon.” As the Three Lions star warmed up down the touchline for his appearance the home fans kept chanting “you’re just a s**t Aaron Lennon and “Theo what’s the score,” according to reports.
The 28-year old finally got his chance in the 81st minute as he replaced Olivier Giroud. He could not save the Gunners who fell to their first loss in four matches. Goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane mean Spurs would finish above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years.
The Spurs fans would not forget what Walcott did few years ago. Both London sides clashed in the FA Cup third round at the Emirates. With seven minutes left, Walcott was injured so he had to be stretchered off. The England star did not leave in peace as he gestured the 2-0 score line to the Spurs fans.
Walcott eventually had to sit out the 2014 World Cup in Brazil due to the cruciate ligament injury. Tottenham fans have not forgotten and they proved it on this day.
Walcott himself was blasted by his manager Arsene Wenger recently after their clash withCrystal Palace. Walcott was the skipper as the Gunnerscrashed 3-0. He said their opponents “wanted it more” and that it could be “sensed” from the kickoff. Arsenal fans blasted him online and Wenger added that such comments were “not acceptable.”
Walcott has seen another mediocre season at the Emirates. There was a glimmer of hope this term but at the end it went as usual.
