Theo Walcott has just completed more than a decade at Arsenal. However, he has only two FA Cup medals to show for in this period.
Walcott was regarded as one of the best young talents in English football. However, his impact has been cut due to various reasons like injuries and being played out of position. The 26-year-old regards himself as a striker, but it has never been the way Arsene Wenger has looked at him. Rather than be transformed into a Thierry Henry or Michael Owen, Walcott has been in and out of the team.
In the last few months, though, he has started claiming an important spot in the Arsenal first team. He has also been able to repay the faith with five goals in 21 appearances. This statistic looks even more remarkable when considering that Walcott has played as a forward in eight of these matches. He has played a part six goals in these games. The England international joined Arsenal as a teenager from Southampton. Even though he has been at the club for more than a decade, he is just 26 years old and can continue to play for another decade. Still, the lack of trophies is something that worries Walcott is a lot and he is hoping to make up for the lost time.
“When you walk through the corridors here and see pictures of this group lifting trophies, you just think: 'I want to do more of that.'This is a big club – it needs more. It should have had more in years gone by. You look at the present squad and, at times, it is disappointing because we should be winning a lot more than we have. But that’s where those two cup wins come in. Everyone loves the taste of that. We want more of it, and bigger and better things,” said Walcott.
