Everton winger Theo Walcott has singled out teammate Cenk Tosun for praise after turning up with strong performances over the past few weeks. The Turkey international had a tough introduction to English football following his winter move from Besiktas, and he failed to contribute a single goal until the month of February.
Tosun therein had a training camp in Dubai to gel with his teammates, and he has since come up with flying colours, contributing a goal in each of the last three matches for Everton. As a result, the Turk has quickly become a fan favourite at the Merseyside outfit and Walcott is hoping that the marksman continues his fine form through the remainder of the season.
He said: “He has settled in really well. He is a great finisher and a great man, as well. I am really pleased for him. I put in a few good ones at Stoke and Cenk showed his class. We see it every day in training. It always takes time to get used to the Premier League and a different culture and to get to know your team-mates.”
Alongside Tosun, Walcott has also been a good addition to the Everton ranks since January, and the England international has contributed two goals and two assists in the space of eight league games. The attacker does not have much of a chance of making it to the World Cup with England, but he will nevertheless want to have a strong end to the season with Everton in order to qualify for Europe.
A seventh-place finish in the Premier League could offer Europa League football next term, if one of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United win the FA Cup, and Burnley are currently occupying the position. The Clarets are presently three points ahead of Everton, having played a game less than the Merseyside outfit.
