Arsenal star Theo Walcott’s career is winding down faster than he could imagine.
The winger is snubbed at club and country despite showing sparks of brilliance few years back. The 28-year old star is set to remain for yet another year at the Emirates, though some reports claim he might exit the team.
Walcott is a player that is always linked with an exit but he ends up continuing his marriage with his French coach. The player is gradually passing his peak but he has never reached the level expected of him when he started out blazing as a youngster.
The good thing about Walcott is that when he is left off the team, he does not rant off like some immature players would. There is no dissent ever. In the game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park as the season came to a close, Walcott comments that the opponents wanted the game more did not go down well with Wenger. Wenger blasted the player and the tactical switch saw Walcott left redundant.
There are still debates why he should be left off the Three Lions team under Gareth Southgate. He is quite talented no doubt but his club profile is limiting his availability for selection.
Walcott plays in the League Cup and soon Europa League, which are perceived smaller competitions. His omission from the FA Cup final against Chelsea likely played a part in his exclusion from the international scene. Southgate preaches every time that his ideal players should play at the biggest games for their clubs.
The player still has two year left off his deal. Walcott could easily be sole for £15-20 million if Wenger decides to revamp the squad this summer. For now the rumour mills point to West Ham as a likely destination.
